Fully hardy, clump forming perennial with narrow, hollow cylindrical, onion-like flavoured leaves. Flowers form rounded umbels of pale purple, pink and occasionally white. Chives self-seed and clumps can be divided.

Culinary Uses: Leaves are chopped and used with potatoes and eggs, as well as being used to flavour soups, salads, soft cheeses, omelettes and sauces. Flowers are edible and can be used fresh in salads.
