Organic, open pollinated, seed. Upright annual with wavy-margined, spiny, light grey-green leaves. Loose thistle like flower heads with green bracts in shades of red, orange or yellow. Good cut flower. Bee & pollinator friendly. Flowers July to August.

Safflower has been used for its medicinal, cosmetic and culinary properties as well as a cheap alternative for saffron
